            An educator is someone who provides new information, teaches you how to do something you

either once did not know, or teaches a new method of doing something. An educator can be a teacher,

mentor, or just an influential thing or person from which you’ve learned from. In the film Front of the

class, turrets were the main characters’ main teacher. He often referred to it in interviews and at

school when being asked how he copes with the disease, and how it affects him daily. With turrets as

his educator it has taught him how to handle others who have diseases and are looked at differently

than everyone else, as was he. It also gave him a critical lens when finding solutions as he had to face

many obstacles of his own. Educators are vital for society as they give more value to people's

understanding and encourage individuality.
           

          An inspiring mentor I’ve had would be my sister’s best friend Alena. She recently graduated

from medical school and is now a doctor. She is an educator to me because she shows me life is what

you make it and gives me hope, as I too am pursuing a difficult career. She has had many struggles

mentally, emotionally however that has not stopped her. Most importantly she has taught me to not

dwell on the past. She and myself have made a lot of academic and certainly many life mistakes. I

came into college an upper freshman with 27 credits almost reaching sophomore status, however I

made poor choices and will not get the opportunity to graduate early as I’ve always hoped. Alena

gave me the reassurance as it is not what you've done, however the steps you've taken after is what

really matters, and to always keep pushing forward. Her success and advice has given me one of the

biggest lessons I received in life to never give up and now with great confidence I can say I, Jorja

Mason, personally know a doctor !
