            I saw various techniques during the lesson with Professor Maria Kiriakova. I learned about some very useful sources and how to identify them as well. Entering college I became acquainted with the term scholarly source which I had never been familiar with before. During this lesson I learned the criteria a scholarly journal must meet and the components it must have in order to be deemed one. A scholarly source can be in the form of a book or article and must go through several revisions/peer reviewed by other authors in that field to access the information’s credibility and accuracy. They have a scholarly tone and abstracts as well which now I can recognize and identify when looking at a source. I also was introduced to new research techniques and sites as well.

            After the lesson I am now able to utilize my schools library to access useful sources that can

be supportive in my writing. Initially I did not know about EBSCOhost or other sites that generate

academic sources. Now I am savvy on how to navigate through the website to search topics and

subjects that will better help me narrow results to get the best sources. I also was unaware of the cost

of these journals, and the idea that I am able to access it for free was very reassuring and

disappointing at the idea I had not put this access to better use. However after the lesson I am not able

to better utilize my resources and strengthen my arguments.
